Actual Weight vs. Volumetric Weight
Air freight is generally charged on the higher of actual gross weight and volumetric weight. A common volumetric formula is length × width × height in centimeters divided by 6000, although airline and service terms may vary.
Why it matters
Light but bulky cargo can cost more than expected if only gross weight is considered. Before requesting a quote, provide piece count, gross weight and dimensions for each package.
